Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines essential terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In cases of inconsistency between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement prevails.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To hire a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old, although age limits may differ depending on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving licence relevant to the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to present valid payment information and a security deposit, meeting any other stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Lincoln office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pick-up. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept all major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, please conduct a thorough inspection and report any existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. It is required that you return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, considering only standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. If you anticipate a late return, please contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may result in additional fees. You are accountable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with a related administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to further limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where additional coverage applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of rental vehicle:
- Vehicles rented from Car Hire Lincoln must not be used for illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, vehicles must not be used beyond their intended purpose, exceed passenger or weight limits, or operate outside agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Lincoln Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will not surpass the total rental amount paid in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to claims for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be addressed solely within the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
